Mystical experience is as natural to us as breathing. It erupts spontaneously and graciously when we live on the spot and savor the real.”

Join Tessa in a workshop of disciplined wildness and passionate presence as we celebrate the polarities in our lives: madness & reason, action & contemplation, service & celebration. Tessa’s enthusiastic style of teaching inspires participants on their own daring journeys towards wisdom and wildness.

Looking at the Mothers and fathers of the Desert, the ancient Celtic Saints, Hildegard of Bingen, Teresa of Avila and other mystics and poets into our own era, we examine aids and obstacles along the path and how to navigate some of the crucial polarities: work and play, service and celebration, solitude and community.

Tessa Bielecki was a Carmelite monk for almost 40 years, co-founded the Spiritual Life Institute and served as Mother Abbess of the contemplative community until 2005. She teaches at Colorado College and is the author of three books on St. Teresa of Avila and recently recorded “Wild at Heart: Radical teachings of the Christian Mystics” for Sounds True. Her great passion is the desert and lives as a hermit in Crestone, CO in the spirit of the ancient Fathers and Mothers of the desert.
